Why is it so hard to trust the most trustworthy entity ever? One who cannot lie (Titus 1:2)? One who never changes (Malachi 3:6)? One in whom there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5)? One with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17)?
Yes I'm talking about the God who created the universe, the God who created you. Why is it so difficult to trust your Creator?
Even when resorting to feeble human logic, trusting the Lord seems like a no-brainer. And paradoxically, that is exactly correct! Faith is not in the brain but dwells in the heart. Faith can reside in the heart even when it's not in the mind, although life is certainly more comfortable when the heart and mind agree. Over time, the the heart and mind will keep picking at each other until they reach a livable equilibrium. Either the heart will rule over the mind, or the mind will destroy the faith in the heart.
In the case of the Runaway Bride, alas, it was the latter. Her mind kept busy with misgivings of doubt and unbelief until she could no longer trust the directions and answers to prayer that she had received from the Lord.
It is a sad tale, but there is much to learn from it. That is what this blog is about.
